Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) Ultrasound
what is PICC ultrasound ?
The implantation of peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) into a superficial vein of the upper extremity using ultrasound guidance is a viable alternative to central catheters put through central veins.
Using ultrasound to guide PICC insertion
In patients with poor vascular access, ultrasound-guided peripheral IV placement is an alternative to central venous access. The ultrasound-guided peripheral IV placement training will teach doctors how to use in-plane and out-of-plane techniques to cannulate brachial, basilic, and cephalic veins under ultrasound guidance. Students will achieve competency in cannulating vessels under direct ultrasound visualization through hands-on experience.
